Eco church

At St Paul's church we believe that caring both for God's creation and for people across the world impacted by climate change is a fundamental aspect of the Christian life.

We use the Eco Church Scheme run by the charity A Rocha as a way of assessing what we already do and what the next steps are for us.

Eco Church is a scheme that equips churches to care for God's creation through their worship, buildings, land, community engagement, and individual lifestyles.
By completing an online survey, churches can be considered for an Eco Church Award at either Bronze, Silver, or Gold level. The scheme encourages churches, cathedrals, and dioceses to embody the fifth mark of mission, “to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.”

St Paul’s currently has a silver Eco church award and is going for gold!

The Church of England has committed to being net zero by 2030 and at St Paul's we are committed to finding ways to take on the challenge and make our church net zero.

Find out more about going net zero here.

And watch a video on how we can start here.

Work out your own carbon footprint and start your personal journey to reducing your climate impact here.

We have a committed Eco Church group which meets regularly to monitor how we are doing, and to pray about environmental issues.
